Prof. Alex Sandro Gomes, PhD

Alex Sandro Gomes is an Electronic Engineer (UFPE, 1992), Master in Cognitive Psychology (UFPE, 1995) and completed his PhD in Education Sciences at the Université de Paris V (René Descartes) in 1999. He works in the areas of Computers in Education and Human-Computer Interaction, with emphasis on the conception of learning environments. He is currently Full Professor at the Computer Science Center of the Federal University of Pernambuco (PPGCC CAPES 7) where he leads the research group Cognitive Sciences and Educational Technology. In his associative activities, he was Vice-President of the Pernambuco Academy of Sciences (2019-2021), member of the Innovation Board of the Brazilian Association of Distance Education - ABED (2019-2021), member of the Board of the Brazilian Computer Society - SBC (2020-2021), President of the Special Committee on Educational Informatics - CEIE of SBC (2020-2021), and, member of the Special Committee on Human-Computer Interaction - CEIHC of SBC (2010-2011). He has coordinated 30 national and international events, among them CBIE and IHC, promoted by SBC, Hipertexto and Ctrl-E. He has published more than 400 papers in specialized journals, annals of events, books, and chapters. He has oriented or co-oriented more than 70 master's theses and doctoral dissertations in the area. Furthermore, he was a visiting professor at the Faculty of Education at UFC (Benfica Campus), at the Computer Science Department of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, at the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, Germany, and at the Digital Ethnographic Research Center (DERC) - RMIT University, Australia and Centre for Research in Education (CREN), University of Nantes. He holds advisory roles at CAPES, CNPq, FACEPE, FAPESB and FAPITEC. In 2018, he was awarded the Tércio Pacitti Award by the Brazilian Computer Society for his performance in the national scene in favor of Computer Education. He has worked in technological innovation projects in cooperation with companies: CAPES, Cesar, EMBRAPA, In Forma Software, Instituto Ayrton Senna, Grupo Positivo, Ministry of Education, MV Sistemas, Samsung, Sebrae, SENAC. He works with Education and Popularization of S&T editing books for teacher's education - Creative Teacher Series - and dissemination of Design Thinking. Likewise, he works with innovative entrepreneurship as a mentor for the start-up Redu.Digital, incubated at UFPE's Technological Pole.

Alex Sandro Gomes é Engenheiro Eletrônico (UFPE, 1992), Mestre em Psicologia Cognitiva (UFPE, 1995) e concluiu o doutorado em Ciências da Educação pela Université de Paris V (René Descartes) em 1999. Atua nas áreas de Informática na Educação e Interação Humano-Computador com ênfase na concepção de ambientes de aprendizagem. Atualmente é Professor Titular no Centro de Informática da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (PPGCC CAPES 7) no qual atua como líder do grupo de pesquisa Ciências Cognitivas e Tecnologia Educacional. Em sua atuação associativa foi vice-presidente da Academia Pernambucana de Ciências (2019-2021), membro da Diretoria de Inovação da Associação Brasileira de Educação a Distância - ABED (2019-2021), membro do Conselho da Sociedade Brasileira de Computação - SBC (2020-2021), Presidente da Comissão Especial de Informática Educativa - CEIE da SBC (2020-2021), e, membro da Comissão Especiais de Interação Humano Computador - CEIHC da SBC (2010-2011). Coordenou 30 eventos eventos (inter)nacionais, dentre eles CBIE e IHC, promovidos pela SBC, Hipertexto e Ctrl-E. Publicou mais de 400 trabalhos em periódicos especializados, anais de eventos, livros e capítulos. Orientou ou co-orientou mais de 70 dissertações de mestrado e teses de doutorado na área. Foi professor visitante na Faculdade de Educação da UFC (Campus do Benfica), no Departamento de Ciência da Computação da Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile, no Instituto Fraunhofer para Pesquisa de Computação Gráfica IGD, Alemanha, e no Centro de Pesquisa Digital Etnográfica (DERC) - RMIT University, Austrália e Centre for Research in Education (CREN), University of Nantes. Exerce funções de assessoria na CAPES, CNPq, FACEPE, FAPESB e FAPITEC. Em 2018 foi agraciado com o Prêmio Tércio Pacitti pela Sociedade Brasileira de Computação por sua atuação no cenário nacional em prol da Educação em Computação. Atuou em projetos de inovação tecnológica em cooperação com empresas: CAPES, Cesar, EMBRAPA, In Forma Software, Instituto Ayrton Senna, Grupo Positivo, Ministério da Educação, MV sistemas, Samsung, Sebrae, SENAC. Atua com Educação e Popularização de C&T editando livros para formação de professores - Série Professor Criativo - e difusão do Pensamento de Design. Atua com empreendedorismo inovador como mentor da start up Redu.Digital, incubada no Pólo Tecnológico da UFPE.
