Cursou o mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Amazonas (1990) e doutorado em Educação: História, Política, Sociedade pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2002). Atualmente é professora Titular da Universidade Federal do Amazonas. Tem experiência na área de Educação/Trabalho, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: educação do campo, políticas educacionais referentes ao ensino superior, ensino técnico e tecnológico. Coordenou o Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação da Universidade Federal do Amazonas. Exerceu a função de Pró-Reitora de Assuntos Comunitários. Foi diretora da Faculdade de Educação (2006 a 2014). Foi Presidente da Associação de Professores do Estado do Amazonas e da Associação dos Servidores da Universidade do Amazonas.
